Let’s go have supper

This and the next twenty-three pictures were taken from Le Diable A Paris (The Devil in Paris), a collective work comprising drawings by Paul Gavarni, J-J. Granville, Bertall, and written contributions by H. de Balzac, A. de Musset, G. Sand, and many others. The edition from which these pictures were taken was published by Hetzel, Paris, 1868.

Quand nos demoiselles auront fini d’offenser la morale publique, on va souper.

When our young ladies are done offending public decency, we’ll go have supper.

From the series Les Gens de Paris.
