MADISON I. Capital of Wisconsin (USA), lat. N. 43°43′ and long. W. 91°43′, 150 kilometers (93 miles) West of Milwaukee; pop. 15 000. It is located on an isthmus, between Lakes Monona and Mendola, in the midst of a fertile territory. Its most beautiful monument is the Capitol of the state of Wisconsin.
