Description:

The white-throated dipper (Cinclus cinclus), also known as the white-bellied dipper, is a passerine bird in the family Cinclidae. It is recognizable by its white underbelly and is commonly found in aquatic environments throughout Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. As the name suggests, it is capable of swimming and diving underwater in search of food. The white-throated dipper is also known for its distinctive song, which is often heard near rivers and streams where the bird resides.

The caption reads in the original French: Cincle d’Europe (Hydrobata cinclus).
