Description:

Like racoons, coatis are listed in the family Procyonidae. The red coati (Nasua narica rufa) is a subspecies of the white-nosed coati (Nasua narica) and is known for its reddish-brown fur, long snout and long tail, which is used for balance when climbing trees. It feeds on a variety of foods including insects, fruits, and small animals. it is a social and diurnal species, living in groups of up to 20 individuals, sometimes more.
