Description:

Tinted lithograph depicting Izadkhast Castle, an ancient fortified city perched on a rugged bedrock. The castle overlooks the Izadkhast valley, which stretches out into the distance, meeting the horizon at the point where vast plains and distant mountains converge beneath a vast, cloudy sky.

The caption reads in the original French: Yezd-i-Kast.
