Description:

Stipple engraving showing Hippeastrum reginae, a bulbous plant in the family Amaryllidaceae. It is native to South America and produces large, showy flowers.

The colors for this series of illustrations were achieved through a combination of inking à la poupée and watercolor finish applied by hand.

The caption reads in the original French: Amaryllis reginae — Amaryllis de la reine.
