Description:

Pont du Carrousel, also known in the 19th century as Pont des Saints-Pères, as it stood in the 1840s. It was decided in the 1930s that it would be totally replaced by a new structure.

This picture was used by the magazine L’Illustration as a standing banner image. This version, in use in 1857, is a slight variation of the illustration created in the 1840s by Charles Marville, who would later become a photographer and is remembered today for his views of pre-Haussmann Paris.
